Vermont Green FC Head Coach Chris Taylor will return in 2026 to lead the club in the U.S. Open Cup and USL League Two season.

After being promoted to Head Coach in February 2025, Taylor went undefeated in his first season in charge, winning the USL2 National Championship with a 16-3-0 league record (19-3-0 including friendlies).  The Liverpool-native served as Assistant Coach with the club from 2022 to 2024. In the offseason, Taylor leads the SUNY Plattsburgh Men’s Soccer program.

“I’m excited to return to Vermont Green for my fifth season with the club and my second as Head Coach,” said Taylor. “Last season we achieved every goal that we set for ourselves in what was a truly unforgettable summer. We know the target is on our backs now and the pressure is higher than ever, but we are excited by this. My connection with the club, the fans and the community is stronger than ever.”

Chris Taylor enters his fifth season with the club, and second as head coach.

Taylor’s first test of 2026 will be a big one: the club has qualified for the historic U.S. Open Cup and will face pro club Portland Hearts of Pine in the tournament’s opening round on March 17.

“We’ve been working hard to build a squad that can not only defend all of the trophies we won in 2025, but more importantly one that represents the state of Vermont with pride and passion,” Taylor added. “Thank you to Adam Pfeifer for continuing to give me the best platform to coach this club and also to the founders for their ongoing support. We are coming back this year to try and do it all again.”

Taylor holds a UEFA B License and is currently enrolled to earn a UEFA A License, which he is set to complete before the USL2 season begins in May.
