Morning rain gave way to afternoon sun as the club with the smilin’ mountain logo shone in a historic home opening victory.

Over a thousand fans looked on as Vermont Green FC earned a dominant 4-1 win over Black Rock FC in their inaugural season home debut.

Rodrigo Ferreira opened the scoring in the 11th minute, heading in a cross that first hit the post. After Black Rock FC equalized in the 17th minute, Owen O’Malley restored the lead just before the half-hour mark with a clever cross-turned-goal. O’Malley would add another to the tally in the 52nd minute before Diba Nwegbo’s 79th minute goal finished the scoring for the Green to win 4-1.

With the win, Vermont Green FC moves to 2-1 on the season. Next up are the Seacoast United Phantoms on June 4 at Virtue Field.
