Burlington, VT, March 2, 2022 – Today, Vermont Green Football Club announced it has signed an agreement with British sportswear brand, PlayerLayer, to serve as the official kit and on-field apparel provider. The agreement marks PlayerLayer’s first venture in the United States, after establishing impressive partnerships around the world. PlayerLayer and Vermont Green FC share a commitment to environmental responsibility and a belief in the power of sports to drive change.

Known for developing innovative sportswear with customizable designs and uniquely sustainable fabrics, PlayerLayer is also the kit partner of Forest Green Rovers — recognized by FIFA and the United Nations as “the greenest sports club in the world.”

PlayerLayer’s fabrics include:

  • A 100% recycled polyester fabric, made from recycled plastic bottles.
  • A coffee-based fabric, made from 35% recycled coffee grounds and 65% recycled polyester.
  • A bamboo charcoal fabric made from 50% bamboo charcoal and 50% polyester.

These innovations improve the carbon and water footprints of kits, reduce plastic pollution, and require less energy to produce. Importantly introducing natural materials into the production process in a bid to inspire industry change through the power of sport.

Vermont Green FC was officially announced as a USL League 2 club on October 12, 2021, and will play home games at the University of Vermont’s Virtue Field. Season tickets for the inaugural campaign are now available at vermontgreenfc.com/season-tickets.
