Vermont Green FC put forth a dominate performance against Boston City FC Saturday afternoon in Malden, MA to earn three critical points in a 6-0 road win.
Adam Pfeifer’s side came out of the gate with intensity, finding the back of the net in under five minutes. A precise through-ball from Giorgio Probo was pounced on by Nacho Lerech to start things on a high note.
The Green would control the tempo throughout the first half, seeing the vast majority of the possession and a plethora of chances. The next best chances would come from a Gevork Diarbian one-on-one that the Boston keeper that was just barely tipped over, and a curling ball that hit the post from distance from Bilal Kamal. Despite this dominance, Vermont Green would go into the interval with a one goal lead.
During the half, the game would be delayed by lightning for just over a half hour.
After the long break, the Green came out in the second half to leave no doubt in the result. In the 59th minute, Zach Zengue would earn a penalty that Nacho Lerech stepped up to finish. The Argentine now has four league goals on the season.
In the 68th minute, the flood gates would open up when Vermont Green captain Jake Ashford rose up to a corner kick to head home a third goal. Two minutes later, Dylan Lane struck from outside of the box for his first goal of the season.
In the 73rd minute, after earning a penalty, Gevork Diarbian bounced the ball off the post and in for a fifth goal.
Finally, Dylan Lane would score in the 83rd minute to complete the second half dominance and seal a 6-0 win.
