Vermont Green FC took the trip to Schenectady, NY on Tuesday night, grinding out a victory against Albany Rush with goals from Dylan Lane and Nacho Lerech.

The Boys in Green had control of the match from the first kick, but a staunch defensive performance from the hosts halted the Vermont attack from finding the back of the net in the first half.

In the 58th minute, the constant barrage finally paid off, when Dylan Lane pounced on a loose ball just in front of the net with an “audacious half-volley back-heel flick.” The impressive finish gave the Green their well-deserved lead, and they wouldn’t look back.

Newcomer Felipe D’Agostini used his impressive skill on the ball to draw a foul from an Albany defender who would then be issued a second yellow, giving Vermont a man advantage for the final half hour of the match.

Just a few moments later, Bernardo Prego whipped in a cross from his right side that landed at the head of Nacho Lerech who powered it through Albany keeper James Joyce in the 64th minute.

The Green kept the pressure on for the rest of the match, nearly finding the back of the net on multiple occasions. The scoreline would remain 2-0 until the final whistle.
