A hat trick from debutant Yaniv Bazini gave Vermont Green FC a convincing return to winning ways on Wednesday night in front of 2,500 fans at Virtue Field. The 3-0 victory was the eighth time this season the Green claimed a multi-goal shutout.

Vermont could not have asked for a more marvelous evening to watch their hometown team, as the summer solstice sun shined down upon a sold-out Virtue Field. The play on the field did not disappoint either. In just the third minute of the match, clever movement from Felipe D’Agostini and an outside-the-foot cross from the end line was headed into the back of the net by Bazini. The early goal sent the home fans into an early frenzy.

The Boys in Green would take their one-goal lead and remain patient throughout the first half, controlling play. The Bolts did manage one good chance, with a shot stinging  GK Nick Christoffersen’s crossbar after a counterattack. The 1-0 scoreline would remain at the halftime whistle.

In the second half,  the Vermonters would reassert their dominance. In the 56th minute, Nate Jones rose up on a corner kick, heading the ball down to the feet of Bilal Kamal, who used both feet to plant the ball close to the goal line for Bazini to smash into the top netting.

A brace was simply not enough for Bazini, who completed his hat trick in the 90th minute of the match. The Vermonters spent the final seconds of the game completing more than twenty passes until a splendid Daniel Pacella longball unleashed the big striker on goal. As the debut script demanded, Bazini slotted home his chance and closed the book on a dream night at Virtue Field. His three goals are only the second hat trick in Vermont Green FC club history.
