Vermont Green FC announced today that the club will play Ligue1 Québec champions and 2024 Canadian Championship qualifiers CS Saint-Laurent at Virtue Field on July 3rd, 2024 at 6pm. The match will introduce The Maple Cup / Coupe d’Érable, an annual single-match cup competition to be played between Vermont Green FC and a top Quebecois opponent.

“Since the very start of Vermont Green FC, the soccer communities of Quebec have been incredible friends to our young club.” said Vermont Green FC co-founder Patrick Infurna. “From organized fans supporting us in the stands, to Ligue1 Quebec clubs making the trip down to play us, to media coverage and more, the bond of football between Vermont and Quebec has been wonderful and organic. The Maple Cup is designed to celebrate that bond and show gratitude for a friendship we value so strongly.”

CS Saint-Laurent is a semi-professional club that competes in Ligue1 Quebec, the regionalized third tier of professional soccer in Canada. The Montreal-based neighborhood club were crowned champions of Ligue1 Quebec in 2023 in convincing fashion, finishing ten points clear of second place. With their title, CS Saint-Laurent qualified for the 2024 Canadian Championship, Canada’s domestic cup competition, and are set to face Canadian Premier League side Halifax Wanderers FC in early May.

The Maple Cup / Coupe d’Érable will be contested for the first time this summer, with the intention of the match becoming an annual staple of the Vermont Green FC season. Additional details on the match will be provided at a later date.
