Vermont Green FC received two local recognitions in September: a resolution from the Burlington City Council, and an award from Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility.

On Monday, September 8th, the Burlington City Council unanimously passed a resolution recognizing Vermont Green FC’s 2025 USL League Two National Championship. The resolution also reaffirmed the city of Burlington’s shared commitment to environmental sustainability, social equity, and inclusion.

“Our club is proud to call Burlington home, and we’re proud to represent this great city—and the entire state of Vermont—on the soccer field at the national level,” said Vermont Green FC co-founder Patrick Infurna. “We are honored and grateful that this historic championship season and the hard work of our players, staff, and fans has been recognized by Burlington City Council through this resolution.”

Vermont Green FC also received the VBSR Innovation & Inspiration Award in September.

This award recognizes VBSR member organizations who have accomplished a recent innovative and/or inspirational achievement in the areas of Planet (Environmental Impact), People (Social Impact), and Prosperity (Economic Impact).

“Vermont Green FC is a values-led soccer club that mobilizes fans for environmental justice and social inclusion. In just a few seasons, the team has become a model for using sport as a vehicle for change—choosing vendors and partners aligned with their mission, and inspiring joy and advocacy across Vermont. The club’s commitment to people, planet, and prosperity sets a new standard for sports organizations nationwide,” read a blurb on the organization’s website.

“Thank you to VBSR for choosing our club for the Innovation & Inspiration Award,” said Vermont Green FC co-founder Sam Glickman. “We must immediately share this recognition with our fans, supporters, partners, and everyone that made this season so special. We continue to be inspired by the people that make this club, and this award is really a recognition of them.”
