Burlington, VT, December 21, 2021Today, Vermont Green Football Club announced it has signed Adam Pfeifer as Head Coach and Sporting Director for the club’s inaugural season in USL League 2. He will begin coaching duties immediately.

“Adam is the ideal candidate to take on the challenge of launching a brand new soccer club here in Vermont. He has a proven track record as a manager, and is highly regarded by his peers across New England and by the athletes he’s coached,” said Vermont Green FC co-founder Matthew Wolff

The Norwich University Men’s Soccer coach brings a high level of experience both as a player and a manager.

In 2021, Pfeifer led the Norwich Cadets to a 14-3-1 overall record and into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship, his third final in six seasons at the helm. His overall record at Norwich stands at 64-18-15.

Prior to Norwich, Pfeifer served as an assistant coach for two seasons at Middlebury College under legendary Head Coach David Saward, and Associate Head Coach at Northeastern University for eight seasons.

“Vermont Green FC is a very exciting project and I am honored to be included in the club’s first soccer staff. I believe in the club’s environmental mission and know that Burlington, Vermont is the perfect city to host a USL2 franchise that will be successful on and off the field!” said Pfeifer.

The Newton, Mass., native was a four-year starter at Boston College during his collegiate playing career, helping the program claim two Big East Tournament titles and three berths into the NCAA Tournament. In addition to his time as a student-athlete, he led the Cape Cod Crusaders to back-to-back USL PDL (now USL League 2) National Championships in 2002 and 2003.

Pfeifer and Vermont Green FC will begin building the inaugural season squad by holding open tryouts on January 9 at the University of Vermont’s Virtue Field. Interested players can sign up by visiting vermontgreenfc.com/tryouts.

Vermont Green FC was officially announced as a USL League 2 club on October 12, 2021, and will play home games at the University of Vermont’s Virtue Field.
