Vermont Green FC and Wasted* have announced a significant development in the club’s circularity goals with the launch of the new WeeBloom recycled fertilizer. WeeBloom is a specialty fertilizer created with the urine collected by Wasted* portable toilets, including the 14 toilets at every Vermont Green FC match. WeeBloom supports Wasted* and Vermont Green FC’s goal of transforming the linear consumption-production model into a circular one.
“Our partnership with Wasted* has been a cornerstone of achieving our environmental goals since the 2023 season” said Vermont Green FC co-founder Sam Glickman. “With the development of WeeBloom, Vermont Green FC fans can now see circularity in motion, as their waste deposited at the stadium becomes fertilizer for farmers and casual gardeners right here in Vermont. We’re delighted to continue working with Wasted* on our circularity and zero waste goals.”
“For all of the fans that have contributed to our toilets during home games over the past two years, thank you!” Wasted* co-founder Thor Retzlaff said, “We moved to Vermont to start this business and it has truly been a dream come true to partner with Vermont Green, an aligned local organization, to actualize circularity in our own backyard. The world is watching so let’s continue to show them what’s possible when we prioritize the climate in our design of both community and business. Up the Green (and liquid gold!)”
Vermont Green FC and Wasted* will continue their partnership in 2025.
Via the 14 Wasted* portable toilets at Vermont Green FC games, Wasted* diverts urine from standing peers, hauls it back to their hub in Williston and processes it into natural fertilizers, recovering the rich nutrients that ordinarily go to waste. Wasted* is focused on upcycling human waste to create valuable byproducts. Their toilet innovation supports a circular economy.
Wasted* is an eco-friendly portable toilet and waste management company located in Burlington, VT. The vision of Wasted* is to catalyse circular sanitation and change the way people think about waste. Wasted* has served Vermont Green FC home games at Virtue Field since 2023.
