Burlington, Vt., March 30th, 2022 – Today, Vermont Green Football Club announced it has added Connor Tobin to the front office as General Mountain Man. Tobin will return to Burlington, Vt. after his 13-year professional soccer career that began after attending the University of Vermont and starring on its men’s soccer team from 2005 to 2009. His path then led him to Nybergsund in Norway, Rochester Rhinos, Minnesota United FC, North Carolina FC, and most recently Forward Madison FC.
“Connor aka ‘Turbo’ brings an incredible amount of experience, passion, and leadership. His playing career took him from UVM to Europe, and all over the US professional soccer landscape. We’re honored he’s coming back to Burlington to help build Vermont Green FC,” said Vermont Green FC co-founder Matthew Wolff.
In addition to his successful playing career, Tobin helped found the USL Players Association in 2018 and currently serves as its Executive Director. The USLPA is the official collective bargaining agent of all USL Championship and League One players. Tobin’s commitment to the well-being of his fellow athletes as well as his experience in building lasting organizations will be an invaluable asset to Vermont Green FC across the business and sporting sides.
“Over the last decade, I have learned that what I love about the sport is its potential to positively impact communities. I believe that clubs should function as community assets by authentically enhancing peoples’ lives beyond the pitch. I cannot express how excited I am to join this group of people involved with Vermont Green FC, as they not only share this vision of creating a locally driven community club, but also share the vision of using the sport to tackle important social issues like environmental justice,” said Connor Tobin.
General Mountain Man is an extremely serious role, as the title suggests. Tobin will join Vermont Green FC with the intent to help build the business, culture, and relationships the club has in its immediate community. In addition to these front office roles, Tobin has not closed the door on taking the field with Adam Pfiefer’s squad in the club’s inaugural season.
Vermont Green FC was officially announced as a USL League 2 club on October 12, 2021, and will play home games at the University of Vermont’s Virtue Field. Season tickets for the inaugural campaign are now available at vermontgreenfc.com/season-tickets.
