The University of Vermont Men’s Soccer team won an historic victory on Saturday in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals—advancing to the College Cup for the first time in the program’s 60 year history—with a 2-0 win over #2 ranked Pittsburgh. The Catamounts roster features seven players with Vermont Green FC experience.
The Green alumni amongst the semifinalists are Yaniv Bazini (‘23-24), Nathan Siméon (‘24), Nick Lockermann (‘24), Zach Barrett (‘23-24), Sydney Wathuta (‘24 U.S. Open Cup), Karl Daly (‘22), and Cole Richardson (‘23).
The Catamounts now have their sights set on the College Cup—NCAA Soccer’s Final Four—hosted in Cary, North Carolina. Vermont will take on #3 ranked Denver University on Friday, December 13th at WakeMed Soccer Park at 5:00pm ET.
This is the first College Cup appearance for Green players since the club’s Creighton University contingent qualified for the 2022 tournament. The Blue Jays narrowly fell to eventual National Champions Syracuse in the semi-final match.
Vermont Green FC extends congratulations to Head Coach Rob Dow, Associate Head Coach Brad Cole, their staff, and the entire organization for this fantastic achievement. These Catamounts are continuing to put Vermont’s soccer community on the national and international map. Our club, and the entire state is with you.
Go, Cats, Go!
