Vermont Green FC has confirmed the 2022 sporting staff will return for the 2023 season. Head Coach and Sporting Director Adam Pfeifer will once again be joined by Kate Harney (Athletic Trainer), Chris Taylor, Staige Davis, and Reuben Ayarna (Assistant Coaches), and Joey Cipichio (Goalkeeper Coach).
“Our 2022 season was a success in large part due to the experience of my technical staff. This is a group that is fully dedicated to Vermont Green FC’s goals on and off the pitch and I’m excited to build on our foundation in the new season.” said Adam Pfeifer.
Harney returns to Vermont Green FC after her first year as Head Athletic Trainer at Northern Vermont University. She rejoins the club while pursuing her Ph.D. in Health and Human Performance at Concordia University Chicago. She brings immense experience in the field, having worked alongside Pfeifer at Norwich University as well as in the Stowe school district.
Chris Taylor has been the Head Coach of SUNY Plattsburgh’s Men’s Soccer program since 2018. He is an alum of the Liverpool FC Academy. Before taking the helm at his alma mater in Plattsburgh, the Englishmen was the Head Coach at Clarkson University for four seasons. Taylor holds a NSCAA National Diploma and England Football Association Level One and Level Two Coaching Certificates.
Staige Davis—who had been the first assistant to Pfeifer at Norwich University—was named Interim Head Coach for the Cadets this Spring. The Vermont native will take over the Norwich program as Head Coach this Fall.
A player-coach in our inaugural season, Reuben Ayarna returns to Burlington as a full-time Assistant Coach. Ayarna played professionally in Sweden from 2008 to 2015, and in Finland from 2016 to 2019, scoring 22 goals in 284 appearances as a defensive midfielder. In his final year as a professional, Ayarna won the Finnish top-flight league championship with KuPS from Kuopio, Finland.
The 2023 Goalkeeper Coach will be Joey Cipichio, who held the same role under Pfiefer at Norwich University and most recently with the University of Vermont, coaching the Catamounts during their historic 2022 season that saw them finish 4th ranked in the nation. Cipicchio, originally from Columbus, Ohio, played collegiate soccer at Brown University and youth soccer in the Columbus Crew Academy. He is also a coach at Far Post SC.
Vermont Green FC announced in April that all 2023 season tickets have been sold out — a total of 1,250 season ticket holders. Single match tickets are now on sale for all ten home matches at UVM’s Virtue Field.
