Intern Mahder Teferra caught up with our stoic Senegalese centerback, Moussa Ndiaye.

Tell me a little bit about your soccer journey. When did you first start playing? Around what age did you want to pursue the sport more than recreationally?

Soccer has always been in my family. My father, brother and my sister all played and I started playing around four to five years old.

What brought you to Vermont Green FC?

My coach at VCU knows Coach Adam and I just heard great things about the environment and that people are always smiling.

What sport are you best at besides soccer?

Just soccer.

Author’s note: Moussa does not waste any words.

Favorite moment from any game you have played?

The home opener this season. The crowd, the kids coming up to you after the game asking for signatures. How you can feel people give you their energy so you want to give them your all.

What is your walk out/hype up song?

We Ready. I don’t know who it is. Also Last, Last by Burna Boy.

What teams or players did you grow up watching?

Zidane.

“Football” or “soccer”?

Soccer

Favorite food?

Food from home (Dakar, Senegal). Fish and rice.

Author’s note: Thieboudienne, the national dish of Senegal.
