USL League Two announced today that Vermont Green FC captain Moussa Ndiaye has been named Defender of the Year.
The award is given to the most outstanding defender in League Two during the 2025 season. There are 144 teams in the league.
Ndiaye has appeared in 17 matches for the Green in the 2025 campaign, playing every minute of his 17 starts. The Senegalese defender has scored 3 goals and recorded 1 assist. He has received only one yellow card.
“This award is the culmination of three years of exemplary service to our club and community.” said Vermont Green FC Sporting Director Adam Pfeifer. “Moussa is a model professional, and we know he is going to do great things at the next level when he graduates from VCU. We’re so grateful for all he’s given to this club thus far, and we congratulate him on a thoroughly deserved award.”
“I am truly honored to receive this incredible honor. Winning the Defender of the Year means a lot to me and my family in Senegal,” said Ndiaye. “I am grateful to my teammates, coaches, staff, owners and this amazing community and fans in Vermont for their support and belief throughout the seasons. This award isn’t just a recognition of my individual efforts, but a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.”
The “Mouss-man,” as he’s affectionately called amongst his admirers in Vermont, will make his 50th appearance for the club in Saturday’s USL League Two Final. Ndiaye is the all-time leader in appearances for the Green.
Congratulations, Moussa! Our club, our community, and this entire state are so proud of you!
