Vermont Green FC return to USL League Two action on Wednesday night when Boston City FC visit Virtue Field. The Boys in Green currently sit third in the table behind Seacoast United and Western Mass Pioneers, and will need to secure max points to keep themselves in the hunt for the postseason.

Whether on the road or at home, the Vermonters have historically fared well against the Bostonian side, boasting a perfect 5-0-0 record through four matches outscoring the Lions 22-2. Vermont Green FC opened the 2024 season away at Boston City FC on May 19th, claiming a confident 3-0 victory at Malden Catholic High School.

Boston City FC were founded in 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts and have competed in various leagues since their foundation. They ultimately joined USL League Two in 2022—the same season Vermont Green joined the league. The club has a counterpart in Manhuaçu, Minas Gerais, Brazil that is also named Boston City FC. The Brazilian club competes at the professional and youth level.

Adam Pfeifer will be looking to unleash his attacking players on Wednesday night, challenging them to make the most of their opportunities and to put their finishing work to the test. Yaniv Bazini is expected to play a big role in the match, building on his 9 goals on the season. Xavi O’Neil is also back in training after stints away with DC United U23, who played a closed door friendly with the United States Men’s National Team before the start of Copa America. Zach Zengue, a regular in the Vermont Green Starting XI, has spent the week with Columbus Crew who drafted him in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, but could be prepared for a return to action Wednesday. With Jacob Labovitz, Jackson Castro, Yann Toualy, Ernest Bawa, Carlos Zambrano also available, it will be dealer’s choice of talented options for the Green.
