Vermont Green FC will return to Virtue Field on Saturday for a rematch against the Boston Bolts, looking to continue building on an unbeaten start to the campaign. The match kicks off at 7pm, and a raucous home crowd could be key to getting maximum points against a capable Bolts team.
HISTORY
Vermont Green FC and Boston Bolts have met five times prior to Saturday’s match, and due to imbalanced scheduling in the Northeast Division and a cancelled match in 2024 the two sides did not play last season. Vermont has never lost against the Bolts, with the all-time head-to-head record of 4W-1D-0L.
The two sides played just over two weeks ago at the Boston Bolts home field in Waltham, where the Green defeated the 10-man hosts 2-0. Tattevin and Njike were the goalscorers.

BOLTS IN FOCUS
The Bolts were founded in 1986 and are one of the oldest continually-operating clubs in Massachusetts. They have become a regular producer of talent in the northeast and have competed towards the top of the table for most of their time in League Two.
Boston Bolts most notably developed Miles Robinson of Major League Soccer’s FC Cincinnati and the United States Men’s National team, as well as New England Revolution legend Shalrie Joseph.
In 2024, the Bolts maintained a strong run of form in a division that’s headlines are often dominated by the top three clubs. They finished the season 6-3-3 on 21 points, only 8 behind Vermont Green.
The Bolts could feature Rainer Osselman-Chai, who joined Vermont Green FC at the end of the 2024 season and was in the squad for the playoffs, but didn’t feature. Osselman-Chai plays in the center of the park for the Bolts and commands the flow of the attack. With his versatility, the Vermonters in every position will have to stay vigilant, and keep an eye on the midfielder.
The Bolts are 1W-1D-3L so far in 2025. Their lone win is over AC Connecticut.

THE GREEN’S GREAT DANE
Vermont’s strong start to the season has been due in part to the strength and consistency of Danish left-back Luca Costabile. The University of Maryland player has held down his left side, both defensively and going forward, and has looked incredibly comfortable on the ball.
Vermont Green fans have come to expect excellence from the club’s outside backs, with reliable players like Bernardo Prego, Gerardo Castillo, Nathan Messer, and Gabe Threadgold all playing important roles in past seasons. In Luca Costabile—as well as his counterpart on the right, Amoni Thomas—the Green will continue to see speed, intelligence, and entertainment from the dynamic outside back position.
