It’s another derby week in the Twin States.

Vermont Green FC will make the trip to New Hampshire on Wednesday night to face defending USL League Two National Champions and back-to-back-to-back Northeast Division winners Seacoast United Phantoms.

A historically high-intensity match, the Twin State Derby’s second installment of 2025 could come with its own unique storylines, as the Green will be laser-focused on keeping their place atop the table, while the struggling Granite Staters attempt to spoil the Vermonter’s unbeaten season.

HISTORY

The Green and the Phantoms have met eight times in their rivalry, with Seacoast dominating the fixture, winning six times, including sweeps of Vermont in 2022 and 2024. In the 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals, Seacoast defeated the exhausted Green—who’d played two playoff games in the days prior—by a score of 3-0.

The Green’s only win in New Hampshire came in 2023, when Yaniv Bazini scored twice in a 2-1 victory.

In May 2025, Vermont dismantled the Phantoms 4-0 at Virtue Field, the largest margin of victory in the Twin State Derby.

Vermont Green FC defeated Seacoast United Phantoms 4-0 on May 31st, 2025.

SEACOAST IN FOCUS

The three-peat Northeast Division champs have been a menace in the region of late.

Last year, the Phantoms haunted the entire nation, winning the League Two national title, defeating Peoria City FC in Illinois in a thrilling 3-2 match. The club will forever wear a star above their crest to honor the title.

After winning it all, Head Coach Alex Ryan left his role with the Phantoms, and now serves as assistant coach at League One’s Portland Hearts of Pine.

Seacoast United is a youth and semi-professional soccer club based in Epping, NH, serving the coastal region of the state. The club’s USL League Two outfit, known as The Phantoms, have been playing competitive professional and semi-professional soccer since 1996.

The champions have had a disappointing start to the season for their high standards, with a 3W-6L-2T record, good for seventh place in the Northeast Division.

Despite the 4-0 loss, Seacoast midfielder Marco Dos Santos reminded Vermont Green FC fans that Seacoast are defending USL League Two National Champions.

JAHN IN GOAL

One of the first names on the Seacoast teamsheet will likely be German goalkeeper Tobias Jahn. Jahn was stellar in the national championship campaign, especially in the strenuous USL League Two playoffs, where the 6’2″ shot stopper led from the back.

In a season where Seacoast have had some things just not fall their way, Vermont can’t be complacent knowing Jahn is the final line of defense.

Jacob "Labo" Labovitz scored the opening goal against NEFC on Saturday, his 11th goal in a Green kit.

LABO ON THE HUNT

Vermont Green fans were delighted to see local legend and Soccer Post Burlington owner Jacob Labovitz make his first league start of the season on Saturday against NEFC. The veteran center forward took only 4 minutes to remind the Virtue Field faithful why he is so dangerous, pouncing on a rebound to put the Green up 1-0.

Throughout a USL League Two season, players often rotate due to college schedules, visas, trials, minutes restrictions, and more. No matter what happens in the busy scene of collegiate soccer, former professional Jacob Labovitz is seemingly always ready to step up and fill the gaps. The big man has two league goals in just 126 minutes this season, and 11 all-time for the Green.
