It’s a double matchweek in Burlington! The Boys in Green are looking to build upon their 2-0-0 start to the season.

On Wednesday May 31 at 7pm, we’ll welcome CS Mont-Royal Outremont to Virtue Field for the first international friendly in club history. Tickets are on sale now!

Founded in 1987, CS Mont-Royal Outremont competes in Ligue1 Québec (formerly Première ligue de soccer du Québec), the third tier of Canadian soccer. They were champions in 2021 with a 13-1-2 record.

Longtime Vermont soccer fans may remember that CS Mont-Royal Outremont traveled south for a couple of friendlies against former USL (then PDL) side Vermont Voltage in St Albans in 2014.

Wednesday’s friendly match will see both sides roster 22 players with 11 potential substitutions. Fans should expect to see some players making their VGFC debuts. Wednesday will be Youth Night and Let’s Grow Kids will speak at half-time about their mission to ensure affordable access to high-quality child care for all Vermont families by 2025.

Just three days later, on Saturday June 3 at 6pm, the Green will face twin state rival Seacoast United Phantoms in a USL League Two clash. The Phantoms, defending Northeast Division champions, drew their season opener against Western Mass Pioneers 1-1.

The New Hampshire-based club is the only team to ever beat Vermont Green FC at home, narrowly defeating the Green 2-1 last June. Coach Pfeifer and his men will surely remember that bitter taste of defeat, as they aim to make a statement this weekend.

Saturday will be Pride Night, and we’ll have some special surprises for fans. More details to come!

At both matches this week, Miso Toh Kome and Church Street Cheesesteaks will be serving tasty onigiri rice balls and cheesesteaks, respectively. Vivid Coffee will bring the caffeine and Ben & Jerry’s will, as always, be providing free ice cream samples. Be there!
