The National Sports Media Association announced today that Brian McLaughlin has been named the 2025 Vermont Sportscaster of the Year

McLaughlin has been Vermont Green FC’s play-by-play commentator since the club’s inaugural season in 2022, calling all home matches. His intelligent, well-researched analysis has earned praise across the league, and his voice has become the signature sound of the Vermont Green broadcast.

McLaughlin is a staple of the Vermont sports landscape for his work with multiple University of Vermont, St. Michael’s College, and Middlebury College teams, as well as the Vermont Lake Monsters.

Brian McLaughlin, the voice of the Vermont Green FC broadcast, has been named 2025 Vermont Sportscaster of the Year.

The NSMA membership votes on State and National Sportscaster and Sportswriter of the Year Awards. Michael Beniash of the Caledonian Record was named Vermont Sportswriter of the Year. 

The National Sports Media Association Inc. is a nonprofit organization that seeks to develop educational opportunities for those who are interested in pursuing a career in sports media through networking, interning, mentoring, and scholarship programs.

Founded in 1959 as the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in Salisbury, N.C., the NSSA added its Hall of Fame in 1962, with Grantland Rice as its first member. The organization rebranded to the National Sports Media Association in 2016 and moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. one year later.
