After a confident season-opening win for Vermont Green FC on Saturday, Chris Taylor’s men will navigate a tight turnaround as they head to Boston on Tuesday to face the Bolts. The forecast predicts temperatures could be in the 90s at the 2pm kickoff.

HISTORY

Vermont Green and Boston Bolts have played six prior matches, with Vermont enjoying a 4W-2D-0L record in the all-time series. The sides did not meet in 2024, as the only scheduled match was cancelled due to lightning.

Despite Vermont’s unbeaten record in the series, the Bolts have always been a tricky matchup. They delivered one of the more disappointing moments of the Green’s 2025 unbeaten season, scoring a late equalizer at a sold-out Virtue Field after a Stephane Njike red card reduced the Green to ten men.

In their last matchup on June 7, 2025, the Bolts held 10-man Vermont Green to a 1-1 draw.

BOLTS IN FOCUS

Boston Bolts were founded in 1986 and are one of the oldest soccer clubs in Massachusetts. They have become a regular producer of talent in the northeast and have competed towards the top of the table for most of their time in USL League Two.

Boston Bolts have most notably developed United States Men’s National Team centerback Miles Robinson, MLS veteran Diego Fagundez, and New England Revolution legend Shalrie Joseph.

In 2025, the Bolts showed signs of quality and made some splashes in big matches, but were unable to find consistent form. They finished the season 3W-5D-6L with 14 points.

The Bolts could feature Rainer Osselman-Chai, who joined Vermont Green at the end of the 2024 regular season and was in the squad for the USL2 Playoffs, but didn’t feature. Osselman-Chai plays in the center of the park for the Bolts and commands the flow of the attack. With his versatility, Vermonters in every position will have to keep an eye on the tricky midfielder.

Brendan Lambe, who twice featured off the bench in the 2026 U.S. Open Cup, played all 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over Seacoast on May 16, 2026.

LAMBE, THE LION

One player that stood out for the Green at the weekend was Brendan Lambe. The experienced central midfielder was all over the pitch against Seacoast, showing his quality, engine, and leadership—breaking down the Phantoms with his play and his mentality.

The 2-0 win at Seacoast was Lambe’s first start in Green. He came off the bench in both U.S. Open Cup matches earlier this year, giving the Virtue Field faithful a glimpse of how he can impact a match both in attack and in defense.

Chris Taylor will have to make many difficult lineup decisions this season with a roster deep at every position. Should he call upon Lambe again on Tuesday, Vermont Green fans can expect the sturdy Atlanta United FC product to make his presence felt.
