A 10-man Vermont Green FC had to settle for a 1-1 draw on Saturday night against Boston Bolts at Virtue Field in front of a sold out crowd. A red card to Stephane Njike forced the Green to defend a lead for 20 minutes, but a Bolts equalizer came in the 89th minute. The Green remain unbeaten on the season with four wins and one draw.

Niklas Herceg started in goal, with Amoni Thomas, Brandon Marshall, Moussa Ndiaye the captain, and Daniel Lang starting across the backline from right to left. Le Bourdoulous and Joseph Picotto roamed the midfield, with Zach Zengue positioned in the central attacking midfield spot. Stephane Njike and Mohammed Ibrahim played in the wide attacking positions, and Tyler Trimnal led the line.

In the seventh minute, Le Bourdoulous whipped in a free kick that the Bolts keeper parried into the path of Zach Zengue, who put his body on the line to finish his opportunity and give the Green an early 1-0 lead.

The match was policed heavily by the center referee, with multiple yellow cards and a significant number of fouls given.

The match went into the break with the Green’s lead intact.

Midway through the second half, Stephane Njike was shown a straight red card after his boot was alleged to have made illegal contact with a Bolts player.

The Green were then forced to defend their lead for over 20 minutes. In the 89th minute, the Bolts scored on a free kick. The match ended 1-1.

Next up in USL League Two action, Vermont Green FC will head to Nashua, New Hampshire for a match against Black Rock FC. Black Rock are currently third in the table with three wins in a row.
